Towergate Insurance Names CEO After Step-Down

UK-based Towergate Insurance has appointed Dan Saulter as chief executive of Towergate Financial following Ian Darby’s decision to step down in order to pursue other interests.

Ian Darby has been hired as a non-executive chairman of its mortgage broker division, John Charcol, while Saulter, who is Towergate Financial’s chief operating officer, will take on the CEO role from 1 December.

Darby joined Towergate Financial as CEO in October 2008 and is also non-executive chairman of UK-based Connection Capital.

He previously held a number of executive and non-executive roles with several companies, including UK finance advisor Sesame, Home funding and Bradford and Bingley.

Saulter joined Towergate Financial in December 2007 as acquisition director.

Towergate has over £1 billion ($1.6 billion) in assets under advice. John Charcol became part of Towergate in 2010.

The appointment is subject to regulatory approval.
